Batticaloa to further develop with EU assistance


The Ministry of Economic development is to further develop Batticaloa with Rs.1, 700 million financial assistance, provided by the European Union.

Accordingly, a meeting, presided by Batticaloa Government Agent P. S. M. Charles, was held to discuss how the funds can be used to develop Batticaloa.

Economic Development Deputy Minister M. L. A. M. Hizbullah said the implementing committee will be formed in the 14 secretarial divisions of the Batticaloa District.

The Deputy Minister stated that the amount will be used to develop education, health, technical education, solid waste management, environmental development and fisheries in the Batticaloa District, similar to the project successfully completed in the Ampara District.
