Religious events to invoke blessings on President & country

A series of religious events were held at the Devinuwara Sri Uppalawanna Sri Upulvan Visnu Devalaya yesterday (Mach 25) to invoke blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the country.

An Adhistana Pooja and Jayapirith chanting were held with the participation of over 1,000 Bhikkus to protect and safeguard the country and the President from the plots hatched in Geneva.

Following the Jayapirith chanting and Adhistana Pooja, an alms giving to all Bikkhus was held under the patronage of the President.

The religious ceremony commenced subsequent to President Rajapaksa inviting the Maha Sangha.

Over 1,000 members of the Maha Sanga attended the event representing 583 temples and 64 Pirivenas in the Matara District.
