President orders release of all Indian fishermen

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has advised authorities to take all necessary action to release Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.

Just over 100 Indian fishermen remain in Sri Lankan custody after some 170 others had been freed last week after being produced before court. The fishermen were detained when they crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line in Palk Straights and indulged in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters.
