Sri Lanka army discusses welfare with ex-LTTE combatants

 

Sri Lanka Army has recently met the rehabilitated former combatants of LTTE to discuss their issues and present conditions.

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) recently met rehabilitated ex-combatants who were resettled in Kilinochchi area.

He met with the rehabilitated cadres during March 25 - 26 in Kilinochchi to discuss current issues related to the re-settlers and solutions their problems.

The SFHQ-KLN also took steps this week to release some lands occupied by the Army for security purposes to the rightful owners.

According to the government's policy of releasing lands of civilians used by the military, SFHQ-KLN on Monday (March 24) handed over 21 plots of lands in Pooneryn, Mulankavil and Pulliyankulam areas to their rightful owners.

The military also awarded monetary grants to 23 affected families who had lost a child of their family, either in warfare or terrorist violence at a ceremony headed by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.

The Army also distributed 93 dairy cows among Kilinochchi civilians to support the livelihoods of the resettled people.
