World Youth Conference to benefit Lankan tourism


The ‘World Conference on Youth 2014’ (WCY) to be held in Sri Lanka from May 6-10 would be a much sought after opportunity to promote Sri Lanka’s tourism industry around the world.

The 1,500 participants expected at the WCY, hosted by an Asian country for the first time, will bring much international exposure to the country, especially among youth.

Education Deputy Minister and Youth Affairs and Skills Development Monitoring MP Mohan Lal Grero the participants would be taken sightseeing in Kandy, Pinnawala and Hambantota.

The Deputy Minister said the memories and experiences the participants carry home would be helpful to project a strong and positive image of Sri Lanka to the entire world, an opportunity for Sri Lanka to cultivate new international friends, and improve mutual understanding and goodwill with the rest of the world, the Daily News reported.
