President refers to attempts by some to create chaos in the country

President Rajapaksa has pointed out that some who are considering development as a joke were attempting to create chaos and reverse the country.

Some have taken as a joke the development that is mooted in the country by the present administration to bring prosperity to the nation and attempting to create unnecessary confusion. The President emphasized that the people will not permit anyone to reverse the development programmes which are targeted at transforming the country into the Wonder of Asia.

The President was addressing a function held at the Mahaweli grounds at Girandurukotte yesterday (April 19). It was organized to grant the rights of Mahaweli lands to 5500 farmer families within the Mahaweli B and C Zones.

This programme is in response to a request made by the people from the President during the last election period. Accordingly 45 thousand land allotments have already been surveyed and the deeds prepared. The distribution of these lands among the farmer families commenced on the 31st of December last year. The third stage of the programme was launched yesterday.
