SriLankan flies with oneworld from Thursday


Reaching one of the most significant landmarks in its 35-year history, SriLankan Airlines will join oneworld, a reputed international alliance, on May 1 and roll out its first aircraft decorated with the oneworld livery.

The launching ceremony would be held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport in Mattala with the participation of SriLankan officials, oneworld representatives and local and international media.

SriLankan Airlines by joining oneworld estimates incremental revenue of around US$ 25 million per year initially with the figure expected to increase with the passage of time. SriLankan is the first airline to join the alliance from the region and was not required to make a significant investment to join oneworld but only a revamping of its systems which was a timely need.
