The number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka went up 39.5% to 112,631 in the month of April 2014, compared to April 2013 which was only 80,737, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
534,132 tourists arrived in first 4 months of 2014.
Figures showed an increase in the number of arrivals from Western Europe, North America, East Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe.
The number of visitors from Western Europe rose by 47.9 percent (37,369) with tourists from France up 43.2 percent (5,970), U.K. up 43.3 percent (12,380), the number of visitors from Switzerland is 1,742 and Germany up 59.6 percent (8,137), according to the SLTDA.
Arrivals from East Asia increased 61.4 percent (18,416), with Japan arrivals to 2,368, and those from Indonesia up to 2,680.
Arrivals from North America went up by 25.0 percent to 5,514 within the month of April 2014. The number of visitors from Australasia went up by 39.3 percent to 5,868.
Tourist arrivals in the country increased sharply from May 2009 after defeating 30 years of terrorism.
