India participates in Buddha Rashmi Vesak celebrations in Colombo

 

This year, at the invitation of the Government of Sri Lanka, India has participated in the Buddha Rashmi Vesak celebrations.

India is displaying a Vesak lantern modelled on the Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya, Bihar, from 15 to 19th May 2014 at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo. The lantern being exhibited is based on the architecture of the Mahabodhi Temple.

The event is being jointly organized by the Presidential Secretariat and the Gangaramaya Temple.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa Thursday opened the Buddha Rashmi Vesak at the Gangaramaya Temple.
