President returns after attending Indian PMs swearing-in ceremony

 

President Mahinda Rajapaksa returned to the island yesterday after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

President Rajapaksa together with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Chaudhury and Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam attended the swearing-in ceremony held at forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on May 26.

During his stay in New Delhi, President Rajapaksa held bilateral discussions with the new Indian Prime Minister, Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
