President Mahinda Rajapaksa officially inaugurated the Scout Service and Public Relations Fortnight of Sri Lanka Scout Association yesterday (June 3) at the President’s House.
Scout Services and Public Relation fortnight will be held from 06th – 22nd June 2014. During this period 48,000 scouts as teams will be engaged in these programs.
Build the team spirit, expose the talents of scouts and building relationship with the community will be the key motives of conducting such programs. It is anticipated to raise funds for scouting projects by their own capabilities and to train themselves to face the challenges in life will be trained through these activities.
Chief Scout Commissioner, Prof. Nimal de Silva presented the first official job card of this programme to President Rajapaksa. The People’s Bank has sponsored the official job card of the Scout Service and Public Relations Fortnight. President Rajapaksa was awarded a special appreciation certificated for the service rendered to the Sri Lanka Scout service and for the immense service to the community.
Sri Lanka Scout Association President Leslie Rupasinghe, Chief Scout Commissioner Prof. Nimal de Silva, Executive Committee President Ratnasiri Perera, Asian Pacific region Executive Committee member of world Scout Association and International Commissioner Janprith Fernando and Assistant Chief Commissioner Rohan A.D. Fernando functions as the Chief organiser of this programme was presented at this occasion.
Members of the Eagle Scout group of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia which recorded the highest income during the Scout Service and Public Relations Week last year, joined the President at this ceremony.
