Iran to expand cultural, scientific cooperation with Sri Lanka

Iran and Sri Lanka have pledged to expand cooperation between the two countries in cultural and scientific fields when the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati and Sri Lankan Ambassador to Iran Mohammad Feisal Razin met in Teheran Saturday.

During the meeting the two sides pledged to do their best to prepare proper grounds for consolidating cultural cooperation, Iran's Fars News Agency said.

The Iranian minister has underlined that there are good grounds for expansion of cooperation between the two countries in all cultural fields including cinema and television productions as well as exchange of science and technology.

The Iranian minister has praised the freedom of Muslim minorities in Sri Lanka with a Buddhist majority population.

The Sri Lankan envoy has welcomed promotion of all out ties between the two countries.

Sri Lanka and Iran have been supporting each other since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1961.
