President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in several religious activities on Poson Poya Day, yesterday (June 12).
President attended the sacred relic exposition ceremony at the Sanda Hiru Seya, Anuradhapura.
The relic exposition was held with the participation of thousands of devotees and members of the Maha Sanga.
The Sanda Hiru Seya is being constructed in Anuradhapura near the southern entrance of the Sri Maha Bodhi and opposite the Sarananda Pirivena in commemoration of War Heroes, who liberated the country from the clutches of terrorism.
President Rajapaksa also participated in religious observances at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Afterwards, he called on the Chief Incumbent of Atamasthana, Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thero.
President then visited the sacred Ruwanweli Seya and received the blessings. He called on the Chief Incumbent of Ruwanweli Seya temple, Ven. Pallegama Hemaratana Thero.
The President spent some time talking to the devotees who had come to Anuradhapura from various areas of Sri Lanka.
The president also inspected the constructions carried out at the sacred Gal Vihara of Polonnaruwa.
