All communities live in co-existence in Sri Lanka enriched by Buddhism - President

All the communities in Sri Lanka live in co-existence as we have inherited a great culture and civilization, nourished by all the goodness of purest form of Buddhism, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

By establishing peace and democracy in the country, after liberating it from the ruthless terrorism, we have established an environment for everyone to follow their religions freely and live freely, he added.

The President was speaking to a group of foreign Buddhist monks and lay people representing several countries called on him at Temple Trees yesterday (June 18).

In a such an era when every nation is living with brotherhood, enhancing the friendship in such a blessed country, some people are making a futile attempts to disgrace the country internationally, by giving false information, the President pointed out.

Whatever is said by whomsoever, the teachings of the Buddha help the sustenance of peace in any country as well as the world peace, the President said. He further stated it is commendable that foreign delegates visit Sri Lanka to witness the unity of the people in this country.
