Series of religious reconciliation programs launched

 

The first program of series of programs on Religious co-existence and reconciliation based on trust has been successfully held yesterday (June 26) at the Magam Ruhunapura International Conference Centre.

The program on religious co-existence and reconciliation based on trust was organized with the intention of creating confidence in every community living in Sri Lanka sans any communal, religious, caste or colour differences, through unity and co-existence.

The program was organized by President of the Thrunnayata Hetak Organisation and Member of Parliment Namal Rajapaksa, on a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It was held under the guidance of the Tharunnayata Hetak Organization and the Hambantota District National and Religious Collective.

In addition to religious leaders across the spectrum, young men and women of all communities joined in this programme. The Buddhist Sermon was delivered by the Anunayake of the Malwatte Chaper the Ven. Dr. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera. The Hindu Sermon was delivered by Kurukkal Brahma Sri S. Gunananda Sharma. The Hambantota District President of the All Ceylon Jamaiyathul Ulama Organization and Secretary of the All Ceylon Youth Federation Moulavi Ashiq Ariikthum Nur Ameen delivered a sermon on behalf of the Islam religion. The Christian Sermon was delivered by Rev. Fr. Dr. Kurukulasuriya of the Colombo Archdiocese.
Cultural events representing various communities were also staged.
