University College for Wayamba youth

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development has decided to construct a University College at Kuliyapitiya to offer vocational training diploma courses for G.C.E. (A/L) level qualified students.

The young unemployed girls and boys who would pass out from this University College will be eligible to apply for suitable jobs locally and internationally in Government and private sector institutions. Unemployed youth from Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts can follow vocational training courses in the University College to become qualified professionals. They can also enter the University of Technology to obtain degrees after following diploma courses at this University College.

About 3,000 youths can follow vocational training diploma courses at this university college when it commences its study courses within next two years, said the NWP-PC Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, addressing a conference of members of Youth Clubs of the Kurunegala District held recently at the Panduwasnuwara Community Centre.
