Government totally rejects hate politics - President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa categorically stated that the government totally rejects politics of hate. Speaking at a ruling party workshop in Beruwela yesterday (June 30), he said that that the ruling People’s Alliance could easily win all the elections and nobody would be allowed to indulge in political vendettas.

The special workshop was held yesterday for all the ministers and members of Parliament of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and it was presided over by President Rajapaksa as leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), main alliance partner. The governments forthcoming development plans were discussed at the workshop.

Several Ministers and Treasury Secretary Dr P B Jayasundara explain the economic plans launched to transform a failed state to a much-envied miracle sate and the status of their implementation to the participants of the workshop.

All the participants extended their fullest cooperation to the nation building efforts of the government.

In the afternoon, the workshop discussed the problems faced by some of the member parties of the UPFA in order to find ways and means of solving them. Written proposals were obtained regarding holding of the elections with a view to decide whether to hold the Presidential Election or the General Elections first.
