The issue of fuel for ships from the Magam Ruhunapura Mahinda Rajapaksa International Harbour has commenced.
The Ministry of Ports said that 2750 metric tons of fuel had already been supplies to six large vessels. The Terminal for the issue of fuel for ships from the Magam Ruhunapura Mahinda Rajapaksa International Harbour was declared open by President Rajapaksa on the 22nd of last month.
The Terminal has now begun to release fuel to vessels and by now it had already supplied 2750 metric tons of fuel to six large vessels. Hitherto ships sailing on the international shipping line secured fuel from harbours in India and Singapore.
The Oil Terminal Complex at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Harbour has the required facilities to supply fuel to any ship. The Ministry of Ports said that the Terminal has facilities to store 80 metric tons of fuel.
