President Mahinda Rajapaksa on yesterday (July 14) made an observation tour to the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa sports complex. The President while observing the new construction work that is taking place at the sports complex inspected the plans of future constructions too.
Initially the President, who visited the Athletic ground, looked into the work relating to the proposed Gymnasium after which he inspected the cricket ground. The President also focused attention on the swimming pool that is being constructed. He also instructed the officials to expand necessary facilities for parking of vehicles.
The sports complex was vested in the ownership of the general public on 21st of January 2010. The Sports complex located in an extent of 126 acres is the only international sports complex with modern facilities.
The President was accompanied by Presidential Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath, Governor of Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal and several other officers.
