Sri Lankan Consulate opens in Zurich

After the appointment of Vidarshana Munasinghe as Sri Lanka's Honourary Consul for Zurich Canton in March, the official opening of the Honorary Consulate took place with the participation of External Affairs Deputy Minister Neomal Perera.

The opening ceremony was followed by an evening reception with the participation of Sri Lankan Ambassador to Germany and Switzerland Sarath Kongahage, Sri Lankan Permanent Representative/Consul General in Geneva Ravinatha Aryasingha, Sri Lankan Ambassador to the WTO Nimal Karunatilake and Sri Lankan Consul General in Frankfurt Pradip Jayewardene.

The Guest of Honour was Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral. Mark Dangel of the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce and other Honourary Consuls were among the participants.

A large number Sri Lankan expatriates in Switzerland participated. They said the Consulate would immensely help solve their consular matters without visiting the distant Sri Lanka Consulate in Geneva.
