Fourteen Lankan workers brought home safely from Libya

Officials of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) were able to take 14 Sri Lankans employed in Libya safely to Dubai City on Saturday (19), the bureau stated in a release yesterday (20).

The 14 Sri Lankan workers living without help due to the current situation in Libya, were taken to Dubai with the intervention of the Ambassador of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Cairo on the directive of Foreign Employment Development and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera, the release stated.

The 14 Sri Lankans arrived in Sri Lanka on a special flight from Dubai via Kuwait last morning.

The media release also added that no Sri Lankans will be sent to Libya for employment due to the prevailing conditions in that country.
