Motorbikes to 600 public servants at Kurunegala


The 2nd phase of the programme to handover motorbikes to public servants was held at Kurunegala under the patronage of the President yesterday (Aug 4).

Under this 600 government sector employees received motorbikes from the President at the Maligapitiya grounds in Kurunegala. This is being carried out according to an initiative mentioned in the 2014 budget proposals.

Speaking at the occasion the President said the government has decided to award motorbikes to all public servants. Under this 150,000 motorbikes are to be presented. Out of them, 100,000 motorbikes have already been imported.

Accordingly, Midwives, Samurdhi Development Officers, field officers at AGA offices such as Grama Sanwardena, Grama Niladari, Soprts Officers etc will receive motorbikes in appreciation of their service.

This program is being carried out Islandwide and the inaugural ceremony was held in Anuradhapura District.
