President attended Intl Scouts Jamboree


The International Scouts Jamboree organized to mark the centenary celebrations of the Colombo district Scouts Association held at the Ygro camp premises at Dummalasuriya in Madampe.

The Jamboree was organised under the patronage of the Chief Scout the president, Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Presidential Secretariat, Chief Minister of the North Western Province and the Tharunyata Hetak program.

Chief Scout of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa joined the Jamboree last evening (Aug 4). 3,000 Scouts representing 30 countries are taking part in this jamboree under the theme "Ayubovan".

“This Jamboree will give visiting Scouts, Guides and Cubs good exposure to the traditions and culture of Sri Lanka. Its programme of events will contribute to build bonds of friendship, especially among the youth of different countries, which is necessary for the progress of nations and peoples”, said President in his message.

The Leader of the Indian Scouts group N.K. Khan and Chairman of the World Scouts Association Sri Ram presented special mementos to the President.
