The first copy of “Sri Dalada Hara Saraniya” book written about the historic Dalada Maligawa, was presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (Aug. 10) at the Kandy President's House.
The book has been compiled on the instructions of Maha Nayakas of Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters and with the assistance of Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela. It was coordinated by the Ministry of Mass Media and Information, Government Information Department and Kandy District Secretariat. Venerable Professor Hanguranketha Deerananda Thera, Professor G.B. Meegaskumbura and Professor H.M.D.R. Herath are the authors of the book.
The book comprises of writings on temples associated with historic Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic) and their tasks, Perahera concept during Buddha's period, Sri Dalada Perahera, Historical royal connections, Sri Dalada Maligawa architecture, art, carvings, murals etc.
Ven. Prof. Hanguranketha Dheerananda Thera presented the book to President Rajapaksa.
Also, the book titled “Budun Wedi Maga” written by Venerable Gangasiripura Dhammaloka Thera was presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the same day at the President's House in Kandy.
The book describes about the walk carried out by the Thera to invoke blessings on the President and the Government on their efforts to defeat forces against Sri Lanka.
The Thera started the walk from the historic Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy and engaged in the walk for 30 days. Ven,Dhammaloka Thera during the walk invoked blessings on the President and the Government at Getambe Historic Bodhiya, Mavunkele Maha Saman Devalaya, Admas Peak, angawalena, Ratnapura Maha Saman Devalaya, Tissamaharamaya, Kiri Vehera, Kataragama, Sellakataragama, Buttala Yudagana Vihara, Badulla Muthiyangana Vihara, Dimbulagala, Somawathiya, Rankothvehera, Polonnaruwa Gal Viharaya, Mihintala Sela Chaithya, Jethawanaramaya, Samadhi Statue, Abhayagiriya, Lankaramaya, Isurumuniya, Mirisawetiya, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanweli Seya, Dambulla Temple, Matale Alu Viharaya and thereafter ended the walk at the Historic Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.
