BOI plans to build 5 factories each District

Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena says a special programme will be implemented from this month to increase the efficiency of Board of Investment (BOI). At a news briefing held in Colombo yesterday (Aug 19) he said the final target of this programme is to further improve investment friendly situation in the country for foreign entrepreneurs.

The foreign investors will be branded according to their potentials and will be honoured with gold, silver and bronze medals. Five factories will also be setup in each district under this programme.

The country has received foreign investments amounting to 817 million US dollars during this year. More investment projects will be started in rural areas in order to create more job opportunities for rural youth.
