China supports SL to face challenges in Indian Ocean

 

Sri Lanka is likely to face challenges and influences due to its strategic location in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Zone. But China emphasized that it is always ready to extend support to Sri Lanka to surmount all these challenges.

The assurance was given by the Chinese representative attending the Defence Seminar in Colombo yesterday (Aug 20).

Yesterday was the final day of the Defence Seminar organized in Colombo under the theme “Sri Lanka: Challenges to a Rising Nation.” This was the fourth edition of the Defence Seminar organized by the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development. Representatives from 55 countries joined in this event. Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa joined in the Seminar on the last day.

Dr. Chang We Hua the Assistant Director of the Chinese Institute of Strategic and International Relations told the Seminar that he Institute was extending support to Sri Lanka in every sphere, including the economic, societal, political and cultural sectors while further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries. Several representatives of Malaysia and Singapore addressed the Seminar with respect to the manner in which the two countries surmounted their challenges.
