More rehabilitated LTTE cadres entrusted to relatives


I have never heard that any country that has paved the way for the development of capabilities of persons who took arms against their state and ensure they get employment, said Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera at a function organized to hand over rehabilitated LTTE cadres to their relatives.

Seven LTTE cadres who were rehabilitated at the Punthottam Rehabilitation Camp in Vavuniya were entrusted to their relatives yesterday. 11,970 LTTE cadres of the 12,298 who gave themselves up to the Army have so far been reintegrated into society.

The Minister announced on the occasion the measures taken to provide them with a loan of 250,000 rupees each at a very low interest rate of four percent so that they could improve their living standards. Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms G.S. Vithanage and Secretary to the Vavuniya Rehabilitation Commission Col. Dayamal Jayasuriya were among those present on the occasion.
