Official announcement on Pope Francis visit to SL


His Holiness Pope Francis's visit to Sri Lanka has been officially announced. This announcement has been made by His Eminence Cardinal Dr. Ranjith Malcolm after the first sermon of the Madhu festival.

This has also been announced by the official newspaper of the Sri Lanka Catholic Council.

His Holiness Pope is to arrive at the Katunayake International Airport at 9.00 am on 13th January 2015. He will be escorted to the Bishop's House first and there he will hold a special discussion with the Bishops. A luncheon will also be held there.

On the afternoon of that day a meeting between the Pope and President Mahinda Rajapaksa will take place. The His Holiness will also attend a cordial gathering on the same day with the clerics of other religions.

A divine sermon will be held at Galle Face Greens on the 14th morning. On the evening of the same day His Holiness Pope will conduct a special sermon at the Madhu Church in Mannar.

His Eminence Cardinal informed that the Pope will also bless the people from the statue of the Lady of Madhu.
