Another 3985 motor bikes given to Govt officers

 

Another stage of the programme of providing motorbikes as proposed in the Mahinda Chintana to increase productivity in the public service and improve the service standard of field officers has been launched, under the patronage of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, 3985 motorbikes were handed over to Government Field Officers of fourteen (14) Divisional Secretariat Divisions the Kalutara District, yesterday (Sep. 22).

The pro vision of motorbikes to all male and female field officers of the Public Service was undertaken as a result of the 2014 budget and according to the Mahinda Chintana Forward Vision.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa expressing his views on the occasion said that the rural economy should be strengthened to solidify the country’s economy. The field officers at the rural level are discharging a valuable service in this respect.

The provision of motorbikes will help them to provide an efficient service. The facilities enjoyed by the people will also improve when the country develops, he said.

The Minister said that their intention was to bequeath this right also to public officers.
