President Rajapaksa congratulated students who displayed their skills at the Grade Five Scholarship Examination.
The meeting between the students who secured the first, second, third and fourth positions at the Grade Five Scholarship Examination and the President took place at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (Sep. 30).
Appreciating the achievements of these students, the President expressed his gratitude to the School Principals, teachers and the parents for their dedication.
Meanwhile the President handed over to each of these student scholarships worth 100,000 rupees, sponsored by the People’s Bank. They were also awarded Sinhala-English dictionaries.
Expressing views on the occasion, Minister Bandula Gunawardena pointed out that the percentage of students who succeeded in the scholarship examination has now risen from 39.7 in 2005 to 78.9.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Secretary to the Ministry of Education Anura Dissanayake were present on the occasion.
