The Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints Regarding Missing Persons will conduct public sittings in Mullaitivu District again from 2nd to the 5th of November 2014.

The Commission is hearing cases of disappearances and abductions in Mullaitivu district for a second time due to the large number of complaints it received from the district.

Sittings will be held at the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat on the 2nd and 3rd November and in Oddusuddan Divisional Secretariat on the 4th and 5th November.

The Commission is scheduled to hear 231 cases of missing persons in the four-day sittings.

Since the Establishment of the Commission on 15th August 2013, the Commission up to date has received in excess of 19,471 complaints inclusive of approximately 5000 complaints from relatives of missing security forces personnel.

The Commission requests the people living in the two divisional secretariat areas to give evidence in this connection on the scheduled places.
