US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Michael Delaney has said that Sri Lankan export goods are of high quality. He revealed that there is a high demand for Sri Lankan apparels in the United States.
Michael Delaney made these references during a discussion with Minister Basil Rajapaksa at a meeting held at the Economic Development Ministry last week. Mr. Delaney attributed the growth in foreign investment due to the erudite work force and to the salutary investment environment created by the present Government.
US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Michael Delaney said that he was able to witness the high living standards of the people through the tourism movement and environment friendly industrial development. During the discussion, they exchanged views on the new investment opportunities available for Americans within the island nation.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa told the US trade representative about speedy development achieve by Sri Lanka quality and quantity wise. “There is also an environment-friendly investment growth while goods and services exports had enhanced rapidly. Sri Lanka has also recorded a high growth in foreign exchange and investments”, he said.
The Government has succeeded in generating more jobs through industrial parks, for the people of the North and East which were paralyzed by a war that lasted several years. Minister Rajapaksa further told the US representative about the plans that are afoot to increase foreign investments in the Districts in the North and East within the next few years further developing the infrastructure.
