Committed to safeguard country for even unborn future generation - President


President Mahinda Rajapaksa said he is committed to safeguard the country for even the unborn future generation.

Some factions are trying to cut the free education. I will never allow anyone to destroy the country's free education system, he added. He also promised to ensure freedom and development under the current regime.

The President said the opposition candidate is trying to mislead the general public while fielding policy manifesto without any planning. He added that it is a crime to cheat the people. He also noted that the presidential election is not a village council election but a crucial event that decides the future of the country's younger generation.

The President was speaking at a public rally of the UPFA at Samanala Grounds in Galle yesterday (Dec. 25). A huge crowd flocked at the rally and the President received a tremendous response and support from them.

Ministers Piyasena Gamage, Dinesh Gunawardena, Tissa Vitharane, Wimal Weerawansa, Reginald Cooray and Tissa Attanayake and the Chief Organizer of the Galle electorate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Manusha Nanayakkara and Member of the Southern Provincial Council Venerable Baddegama Samitha Thero spoke at the rally.
