The CNN Travel, in a article by Ian Lloyd Neubauer, reported the new train service in Sri Lanka is bringing tourists to a once-remote city locals hope will become Asia's next big tourist destination.
It observed that the train; Queen of Jaffna arrived at Jaffna Station for the first time in 24 years. The return of Queen of Jaffna train service promises a positive new beginning in the postwar era, it added.
The article also mentioned since the end of the civil war, Sri Lanka has been pegged by some as Asia's next big travel destination.
A growing number of tourists are visiting the palm-fringed beach resorts of Tangalla and Bentota, the lush tea estates in the southern highlands and the ancient cities of Kandy and Anuradhapura in the central plains, the report said.
The article also drew attention on the tourist attractions in Northern Sri Lanka which has been refurbished after the end of three decade war against terrorism.
