Special transport services for voters

 

Special transport services are available for the people who will be leaving for their hometowns to cast their ballot.

The National Transport Commission announced that special transport services will operate from today (Jan. 7) until the 11th of this month. These services will operate covering all Provinces in the island on the instructions of Chairman of the Transport Commission Renuka Perera.

Additional bus services will be operative centering the Central Bus Stand at Bastian Mawatha in Colombo and the Southern Expressway. Additional bus services will operate up to Colombo from other areas in the country from the day after tomorrow and the 11th of January covering all main bus stands.

Any issue with respect to transport during this period can be intimated to contact number 1955. It will be operative round the clock. No extra charge should be made for the special bus services that will be operative for the elections.

The National Transport Commission has called on all bus employees not to engage in malpractices including the non-issue of tickets and operating on other routes than on the scheduled route.
