President meets people of Pulathisipura


Making his first visit to meet the people of his electoral district of Polonnaruwa since his election to the Office of President, the first duty of President Maithripala Sirisena was a to worship and pay homage at the historic Gal Vihara of Pulathisipura or Polonnaruwa today (25).

The members of the Maha Sangha of the area led by the Ven. Vendaruve Upali, Nayaka Thera of the Solosmahasthana, blessed the President with the chanting of Seth Pirith.

President Sirisena was due to address the people of his home region of Polonnaruwa, where he has been engaged in politics from his youth, at the sports ground at Topawewa Maha Vidyalaya, where he had his primary education, and at the Hingurakgoda Dudley Senanayake sports ground.
