Committed to fulfill obligations toward children President


A special function was organized by the children of the Dharma Vajiraramaya Dhamma School in Polonnaruwa yesterday (25) to welcome President Maithripala Sirisena.

This was the first time since his election the President is meeting the people of Polonnaruwa, his home district.

The welcome function was organized under the guidance of Ven. Liyangaswagure Devananda Nayaka Thera Chief Incumbent of Dharma Vajiraramaya in Polonnaruwa. President Maithripala Sirisena from his childhood used to visit Dharma Vajiraramaya in Polonnaruwa.

Addressing the function the Nayaka Thera said that we all must think about our children.

The President Maithripala Sirisena said he is committed to fulfill his obligations toward children.

He further said today he became the President due to his tolerance that he inculcated as a result of his close association with his religion, Buddha Dhamma.

The Nayaka Thera including Maha Sangha blessed the President by chanting Seth Pirith.
