President Maithripala Sirisena appointed Additional Solicitor General Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe as Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption yesterday (11).
She received her letter of appointment from the President at the Presidential Secretariat.
She joined the Attorney General's Department in 1987 and spent the early years of her career prosecuting in the High Courts. Thereafter, she joined the civil division of the Attorney General's Department, and has since been advising and appearing for and on behalf of the Sri Lankan government in original and appellate courts across the island. Her career at the Attorney General's Department spans 27 years.
Apart from civil litigation, her renowned expertise lies in information technology law, telecommunication law, customs law, intellectual property law, alternative dispute resolution and medical negligence matters.
Wickremasinghe played a leading role in the Attorney General's Dept team, which drafted the Computer Crimes Act, Electronic Transactions Act, Anti Dumping and Wailing Act. She had been involved in negotiating BOO/BOT contracts on behalf of the Sri Lankan government.
She served as the Chief Legal Officer of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
She served as a High Court Judge of the Fiji Islands from 2010 to 2012. She is a past pupil of several girls' schools and completed her higher education at Visakha Vidyalaya.
