President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi this evening for a three-day State visit.
India's Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Mr. P. Radhakrishnan and India's High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Mr. Y.K. Sinha and Sri Lankan High Commissioner in New Delhi Sudarshan Seneviratne along with senior government officials warmly welcomed the President
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera who arrived in Delhi this morning from the United States was also at the airport to receive the President.
The President is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and the Indian Prime Minister Naredra Modi. Minister of External Affairs Sushma Sharma and Finance Minister Arun Jaitly also are scheduled to call on the President. He will also have discussions with several other political leaders including Congress Party leader Ms. Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
The President is accompanied by a delegation including Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne, Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister of Resettlement, Reconstruction and Hindu Religious Affairs DM Swaminathan and Governor of the Eastern Province Austin Fernando and Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon.
