The 5th round of the Sri Lanka - South Africa Partnership Forum inaugurated today (Feb. 24) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo. The session will be held till 26th of February.
This year's session, identifying the significance of the bilateral relationship of focused cooperation in a plethora of areas, will highlight the need to further intensify efforts to reach tangible results in several areas. These areas include economic and trade relations, science and technology, transport, tourism, agriculture, mutual legal assistance, education, cooperation between police services, defense cooperation and cooperation between zoological gardens.
The following two agreements will be signed between Sri Lanka and South Africa on Tuesday (24).
- Draft Declaration of Intent between the National Department of Tourism of the Republic of South Africa and the Sri Lankan Ministry of Tourism and Sports on Cooperation in the field of Sustainable Tourism Development for the period 2015-2107.
- Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Relationship regarding Husbandry, Public presentation
- research and keeper training on animal species common to the National Zoological Gardens of the Republic of South Africa and the Department of National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka
Mrs. Chitranganee Wagiswara, Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs will lead the Sri Lanka delegation while the South African delegation will be led by Ambassador Dr. Anil Sookal, Deputy Director General: Asia and Middle East of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa.
