President Maithripala Sirisena who is now in Britain on the invitation extended to him by Queen Elizabeth II, yesterday (March 10) visited the London Buddhist Viharaya.

This temple was set up with the pioneering efforts of Anagarika Dharmapala in 1926. It is the most important place of worship and reverence for the British Buddhist community.

The Chief Incumbent Monk of the Temple Ven. Gogoda Seelawimala Thera received the President on arrival at the Viharaya premises. President Sirisena inquired about the health of the Ven. Thera.

Ven. Thera said President Maithripala Sirisena has become the common leader of all Sri Lankans by winning the

Presidential Election contesting as ‘The Common Candidate.” It is pride for Sri Lankans living away from their Motherland, the Thera added.

The Maha Sangha blessed the President by chanting ‘Seth Pirith.’
