President congratulates GCE AL toppers


President Maithripala Sirisena congratulated the students who excelled in GCE Advanced Level last year. The students who won the first, second and third places were felicitated by the president at a ceremony held in Presidential secretariat yesterday (March 17).

The president said all students should be committed to utilize their knowledge and skills for the well being of the nation.

The President noticed that making the life successful is as important as passing the exams. “Therefore, make use of the strength, encouragement and guidance you get through high exam results for the success in life,” he said.

President Sirisena also asked students to recognize both advantages and disadvantages of the technology when moving forward in the commercial world that provides opportunity to study through computers only, without any paper documents.

The President recalled that students in North who used to listen to the noise of gun fire, have now succeeded in getting greater marks than the students in the South who were not disturbed by such sounds. He said there achievement is exemplary for the students in all parts of the country. He requested the students not to discontinue the education due to the hassles and obstacles face in their life.
