Presidential pardon for Udaya

President Maithrpala Sirisena has signed the documents to pardon for Sinnatamby Udaya Sri, who was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment by Dambulla Magistrate Sanjeewa Ramyakumara on March 2 for having written letters and caused damage to the mirror wall of Sigiriya fortress.

The girl, a resident of Batticaloa, had visited Sigiriya along with some friends and scribbled her name on the Mirror Wall using a hairpin.

Police said Archaeological Department officials had apprehended her as she was writing her name (Udaya), in English, on the wall.
