President arrives in Pakistan


President Maithripala Sirisena’s tour of Pakistan commenced today (April 5) strengthening relations between the two countries. The President was welcomed by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff at Noor Khan Airport at Rawalpindi. 

Pakistan media gave a wide coverage for the arrival of President Maithripala Sirisena. President Sirisena commencing his official tour, left to Pakistan on a Sri Lankan Airline plane. The Presidential delegation touched down in Pakistan this afternoon.

The President is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff.

Furthermore, several agreements would be signed following the talks. President Sirisena would also hold discussions with the Pakistan Speaker, Defence Minister and high ranking officials.

The President is also scheduled to pay homage to Dharmarashika Stupa during his tour.
