President Maithripala Sirisena says supplying of electricity to rural areas brings opportunity for children in villages to make use of new technical equipments. It gives them the opportunity to win the competitive world, he added. To supply the electricity to village is a huge investment for future generation, he added.
The President was speaking at the ceremony held at Presidential Secretariat today (April 8) for commissioning of the ‘Soorya Mangallaye Aluth Avurudu Eliya’ rural electricity scheme to supply electricity for 12, 850 rural families.
‘Whatever is said about the development, the real expectation of the development program of the country is to remove the gap between the village and town’, the President said.
“Development program of the present Government is aimed to eliminate poverty of rural people and providing them the facilities currently available only in towns,” President Srisena said.”
