Advices & guidance given by Maha Sangha to rulers were great strength to them - President

 

President Maithripala Sirisena said advices and guidance given by the members of the Maha Sangha to the rulers of this country became a great strength to them. He stated that the present Government also considers the advices and guidance of the Maha Sangha as a noble measure.

The President was speaking at the ceremony to hand over of credentials to the new Mahanayaka of the Sri Rohana Chapter of the Siyam Maha Nikaya the Most Ven. Udumalagala Sri Mahinda Nayaka thero.

“The Government is committed to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana and promote all Buddhist activities” the President emphasized.

The handing over of credentials to the new Mahanayaka thero was held at Kottagama Sri Sumanagama Viharaya in Galle yesterday (April 19).

Maha Sangha including Mahanayake of Kotte Kalyani Samagri Dharma Sangha Sabhava Ven. (Dr.) Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera, Most Ven. Aggamaha Pandita Kotugoda Dhammawasa Mahanayake Thera, Southern Province Governor Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Ministers Piyasena Gamage, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Chandima Weerakkody were present.
