Turkish business delegation to visit Sri Lanka


A Turkish business delegation keen to invest in Sri Lanka will be visiting the island soon to explore business opportunities, said Turkish Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Iskender Okyay.

The Ambassador said in a press conference that the Turkish business delegation is keen on the manufacturing sector, tourism, power generation and several other areas.

Turkey is looking to boost the bilateral trade volume between the two countries and also looking at increasing tourism between Sri Lanka and Turkey, according to the Turkish diplomat.

Mr. Okyay said that Turkish Airline is also looking at introducing two direct flights to Sri Lanka from mid this year.Currently, Turkish Airlines operatesfrom Istanbul to other destinations. At present,Turkish Airlines operates to Colombo with a stopover in the Maldives.

Current trade volumes between the two countries are around US$ 128 million and it is expected to increase.
