Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the 100 days programme of the Government successfully attracted the people. He said that the Government has fully implemented 44 pledges and 52 pledges are now being implemented.
Participating in an interview with a media institution yesterday (April 23) the Prime Minister said that seven long-term programmes have been launched. He said that the Parliament was degraded by the previous government. The Prime Minister also stated it is the intension of this government to decentralize the powers of the executive presidency and strengthen the Parliament.
The Government has taken the necessary steps to consolidate the powers of the law. He said that the Government will establish a political mechanism that will provide justice to all the people.
The Prime Minister also stated that the discussions held with various political parties on the 19th amendment of the constitution were successful and the 20th amendment relating to the change of the election system will be submitted to the Parliament soon.
Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe also pointed out that the people have lined up at present against the abuses and malpractices that took place during the previous government.
