May inherent resolve & courage of people of Nepal overcome this tragedy & rebuild their lives - President

 

President Maithripala Sirisena expressing his condolence over the tragedy caused by the devastating earthquake occurred in Nepal on 25th said he hopes the inherent resolve and courage of the people of Nepal, particularly those who have suffered these immeasurable losses, would have the ability to overcome this tragedy and rebuild their lives.

He said the thoughts and prayers of the people of Sri Lanka will be with the people of Nepal during this challenging time.

Following is the full text of the message by President Sirisena;

I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property following the devastating earthquake which occurred in Nepal on 25th April.

The Government and people of Sri Lanka join me in expressing deepest condolences to Your Excellency personally, the Government and people of Nepal, particularly the families of the bereaved, and wish a speedy recovery to those injured by this natural disaster.

The impact such destructive calamities have on the lives of the people are unimaginable, and test human resilience to the utmost. I hope that the inherent resolve and courage of your people, particularly those who have suffered these immeasurable losses, would have the ability to overcome this tragedy and rebuild their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the people of Nepal during this challenging time.

I hope the emergency assistance dispatched by Sri Lanka will, in some measure, ease the suffering of the Nepalese people and help the rescue and recovery efforts in Nepal
