Speaker endorsed certificate of 19th amendment to Constitution

The Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa endorsed the certificate on Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution Bill under the Provisions of Article 79 of the Constitution, at the Parliament complex today (May 15).

On April 28, the 19th amendment to the constitution was adopted in Parliament with an overwhelming majority.

The main constitutional proposals of the 19th Amendment include the transformation of the Presidential form of government to a Presidential-Parliamentary system of government and the restoration of the 17th Amendment to the Constitution.

The transformation of these proposals into the 19th Amendment is the most important exercise faced by the new government.
